Ducking stool

Not much is known about Ducking Stool save for the references on old maps and in local tales.

Haworth and the surrounding areas have long been a hotbed of magical and spirit activity.

"I believe that the west riding is known to be one of the worst areas in England for cults of a sinister nature. The spiritualist so called church began in Keighley; and witchcraft flourishes. A local clergyman once said of the Haworth area that one goes into a spiritual dark tunnel at Bingley and does not emerge until Skipton, so maybe there is something in the stones "- Joanne Hutton curator of the Bronte parsonage museum in Haworth

Ducking Stool is where the witches were tested to see if they floated and village stories tell of a witches coven being located up a narrow track that leads from Sun Street  in Haworth up the hillside towards Penistone hill.
